I am knitting this scarf for the International Scarf Exchange 4 (ISE4) using Patons Spirit, a self-striping mohair/acrylic blend. Tracey asked about the stitch pattern so I thought I’d write it up. I’m using 6.5mm needles as that’s the size specified on the ball band for this yarn - use whatever is appropriate for the yarn you are using.

notes - 6.5mm needles are size 3 UK, size 10 1/2 US; “yfwd” = yarn forward (US = yo or yarn over). Basically you are increasing by one stitch - on a knit row, bring the yarn to the front then return it to the back of the work over the top of the needle, thus creating a “st” on the needle.

Cast on 40 sts (or any multiple of 6 plus 4 edge stitches).
row 1: knit
row 2: k2, purl to last 2 sts, k2
row 3: k2, (k2tog) 3 times, *(yfwd k1) 6 times, (k2tog) 6 times* repeat * to * to last 8 sts, (k2tog) 3 times, k2
row 4: knit (I worked this row as a knit row to create a garter ridge and add a bit of texture interest, you could work this as row 2 to keep the scarf in st st)

Repeat these 4 rows until (1) you reach your desired scarf length (2) you run out of yarn or (3) you get bored - whichever of these comes first.
