I too felt really sad when I found out Robert Jordan had passed away. I'm a huge fantasy fan (another Eddings fan here too), but somehow the WOT books passed me by. I must give them a go, especially as I've been struggling to find a decent new fantasy novel lately.

I cant wait to see what you come up with for your design, and what a wonderful tribute.

thanks for the info on WOT...there are two on my bookshelf in the 'must read' category. i'm a bit of a sci-fi/fantasy fan myself. your post was a very nice tribute and i look forward to the shawl you design. just fyi...i've recently discovered Octavia Butler and finished "lilith's brood', a lovely trilogy which questions our commitment to humanity, and how we reproduce, and how we see family...i'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in this genre.
