Help
Ok, so this is a plea for help….I finally plucked up the courage to attempt the crocheted edging on Jasmine from Rowan 39 (knit last Spring and shelved since then until I learnt to crochet)
I was really pleased with my progress and it was looking really good. Did 6 rounds and then started round 7 at which point I have to admit I was stumped. The pattern reads
“5 ch, 1ss into next ch sp by going down into ch sps of previous rounds and back up and across into next round”
Now, I understand the 5ch, 1ss into next ch sp but I have no idea where I’m supposed to go “down” and “back up and across”
Here is the work at the point in the round where this instruction comes – I’m hoping someone out there can help me.
The previous round at this point it was “ch5, 1ss into next ch sp, 1ss into next ch sp, 5ch”. I would really appreciate if someone could tell me where I should put my crochet hook now - and believe me I know where I want to put it……..

well, that is poorly written!
for what you are doing us or british terms? cuz ch 5 , 1 sc in the ch spc of previous row in us… vs ch5 1 slst in ch5 spc of previous row fror british
hmmm. I would suggest that you put the hook though the two chain spaces directly underneath the crochet hook on the picture and then doing a slip stitch into the top chain space. You need to find a close up of the edging to see properly. If I have time tomorrow and you haven’t sussed it I’ll have a go. Is there a chart/diagram that goes with the edging?
If someone isn’t able to help you suss it out before then, I’ll have a look at the pattern when I’m at work on Saturday. If you want and can come in to John Lewis on Saturday, we can go over it together, or maybe we could meet up elsewhere or I could try to explain in text. O.o
Anywho, I’ll try to help!

The fact you troubled to learn to crochet deserves a respectful pause in itself. Getting this far and having it look so good is a great accomplishment. Why not just go with what continues to look good?
I failed miserably. I can’t make a lick of sense out of it, and the lady who’s our resident crochet guru wasn’t in today. Sowwy.
