Shell Pattern Socks - Vintage Socks KAL
I finished the Shell Pattern Socks for the January Challenge on Vintage Socks KAL - here are some piccies
Pattern: Child’s First Sock in Shell Pattern from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush
Mods: knitted longer than the pattern to fit my feet
Yarn: Pure Merino Sock Wool from www.thenaturaldyestudio.com colour is “Jewel” - pinks and blues. All their dyes are natural and organic and give lovely subtle shades.
I really like this pattern and the way it knits up in this yarn. The style of the sock suits my feet, which are very narrow, and gives a lovely snug fit unlike a lot of socks which can be baggy on me.
I’m wearing them as I write this and I can say that they are very warm and very comfortable.
I really want to knit some cable socks now - I have some Opal 4-ply and keep seeing piccies of people who’ve knit lovely cable socks like - Austrian Diamonds on Pat’s Blog and ages I go I saw the Bayerische on Eunny’s blog. So I think this may be my new project, although I am also thinking of knitting Monkey with my Hot Socks Sockret Pal yarn
Hmm….off to ponder…..

Oh Wendy - they are beautiful! You have provided me with the inspiration and PUSH I need to get mine done (I just finished turning the heel). I can’t wait to see what you decide for the next socks - the new yarn is wild!

Your socks are beautiful! Well done!!
I’ve gotten a little stalled on my socks but I’m finishing the cuff of my second sock today and then I’ll be on my way again.

Do what I did with my DH I created an on line wish list. I would have made myself one but I would only be able to wear it for a few days here in the winters. The socks are wonderful! Lovely! I adore the colorway of the yarn in the photo. I think my next pair of socks for me will be a pattern, something different than regular stocking net. I’ll be doing some more posting and photos over the weekend.

[…] One of my friends has been lusting after my blue & pink Shell Pattern Socks so I may knit her a pair in the “Sweet Pea” but I want to use at least one of these skeins for a lace scarf from the Victorian Lace book my Sockret Pal sent me. […]
