Have been away for a wonderfully relaxing week at the Yediburunlar Lighthouse near Fethiye in Turkey. It’s a little boutique hotel with only 6 rooms which is, quite literally, in the middle of nowhere which means there is very little to do except relax.

It’s a lovely place made more lovely by our hosts – thanks Leon & Semra – and the fantastic vegetarian food prepared by Semra. My hubby has posted more on his blog – http://www.pluggedout.com/lifeandtimes/ and Leon has a blog here http://yediburunlar.blogspot.com/

Just quickly, this is the view from our balcony -

But this is a blog about knitting and so….here’s me knitting in a hammock at Yediburunlar -

and a close up of the sock I was knitting – Jaywalkers on 5 dpn’s using Opal Prisma in a lovely bright orange.

As I was getting further on with the knitting I was struck by the similarity of the zig-zag pattern of orange and white/black speckled stripes on the sock and the terraced fields of orange earth and grey rocks as they climbed the hills and mountains around me. We went out for several walks whilst staying at Yediburunlar and each time I was fascinated by these terraces winding around and the incredible orange colour of the earth. This picture doesn’t show the true colour but comes close.

and here is the finished sock for comparison – my Yediburunlar Jaywalker socks.

When I arrived home it seems that autumn has arrived and my Yedi socks now seem to tone with the turning leaves – in particular the maples on my decking and I thought it might be nice to photograph the sock with the tree, I’ll try again when the second sock is finished (just at the heel now)
