I’ve just signed up to the Sock-ret Pal blog. This is the first time I’ve done something like this and it is fuelled by my new found love for knitting socks.

The idea is something like the “Secret Santa” idea you get at Christmas. Everyone signs up and then gets matched with another member to be their “Sock-ret Pal”. They then have to send three packages every two months so Oct/Nov, Dec/Jan and Feb/Mar.

Once everyone has been assigned a partner we each post a questionnaire on our own blog with a list of colours and yarns we like, the sort of needles we use, how long we’ve been knitting and – most importantly our shoe size. This enables our secret pal to get to know us and tailor the packages accordingly.

The packages sent should include yarn & other items to help your secret pal knit an item, some goodies such as sweets and a pair of handknit socks knit by the sender.

All of this is done in secret and the identity of the sender only revealed in the final package.

I’m quite excited by this – particularly as most of the other participants seem to be in the US and I’m in the UK so I’m sure we have access to different yarns …. I’m off to start searching through my stash to see what lovely goodies I might have to send someone!
