Current Projects
I have just bought three hand-dyed/spun yarns on eBay - all pretty fine so I’m going to be using little needles for a while I think!

On the left is a superfine peacock green kid mohair yarn - a really lovely yarn this one, will probably use it to knit a cobweb lace scarf.
In the middle is a handpainted lace-weight cheviot wool yarn, I love the colours of this one but not sure yet what I’ll use it for …possibly a lacey scarf or perhaps socks…..
The final skein is a hand-dyed Alpaca/Merino sock wool “Cherry Blossom” which I am using to knit…a pair of socks!
I am busy knitting like mad at the moment as I am hoping to have a stall before Christmas in order to raise money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and I’m planning to sell hats, scarfs and gloves as well as some other hand-knitted items. I’m working my way through my yarn stash seeing what I can come up with and also friends and family have been giving me any left over wool/abandoned projects they have.
I’ll post what I do over the next few months

This is the progress on the Cherry Blossom socks which I started today - about an hour ago. This is the first pair of “toe-up” socks I’ve knitted so learning some new techniques - crochet cast on and wrapped stitches. Let you know how they turn out.

Finally, my ongoing project at the moment is a shawl for some friends of ours who are expecting their first baby. I’ve knit shawls for every friend/relation who has had a baby over the past 8 or 9 years which, by my reckoning, adds up to about 9 so far plus blankets/cardigans etc for all the second babies they’ve had!
I hadn’t knitted a lacey shawl like this for about 2 years and had forgotten how long it took. I usually start knitting when the expectant parents announce the fact they’re expecting which gives me 7 months or so…..hopefully I’ll get this finished in time as I have a few months to go yet.

ooooo the colors for the cherry blossom socks are so cool! Socks are pretty hard to knit, too, I have heard. I haven’t a clue how. I bet they will turn out wonderfully!

Wendy: Your knitting is BEAUTIFUL. I love the baby shawl. I am a crocheter and have tried knitting, but it usually makes my hands feel all knarled up after a few rows. I have shop here in town (Littleton, CO, USA) that had a very similar yarn to your Cherry Blossom. I did a scarf and a hat with it. I admire your drive to have enough things made to be able to sell at the holidays!! Best of Luck! Tanya
