This is one of my favourite pieces of clothing. I fell in love with it when I went to John Lewis’ (a department store) in Reading about 18 months ago. I had gone in to buy some wool to knit yet another baby shawl for yet another friends baby and there, in the corner of the wool department, was one of these coats….and I had to have one.
This is my father-in-law wearing an aran jumper I knitted as a birthday present for him last year. He lives in Cornwall and has a yacht so an aran jumper seemed ideal for him. The yarn was (I think) 100% wool and I adapted an old jumper pattern adding aran patterns chosen specially for him.

Whilst knitting my second pair of socks recently I was suddenly struck with an idea. I have a friend who makes glass beads and jewellery with those beads and is trying to make a living from selling the beads and jewellery through her website juiceglass. I have several pieces made by her which my husband has bought for me as presents in the past couple of years. She is always looking for new ideas for things to make.
As I was knitting I found myself looking at my stitch markers and thought “Carli could make these” -why hadn’t I thought about this before? My current stitch markers are small glass hearts, they came when I bought a “sock kit” from my LYS to knit my first pair of socks.

This is my first meme as I’m new to blogging – read this on Woven n Spun blog and couldn’t resist.
Go to google and type in your name followed by the word “needs” and then list the top ten results. To stop some of the variations I typed “Wendy needs” so I only got hits with the two words together in that order
1)Wendy needs a patient, loving and committed family who can provide structure and support (spooky as hubby and I are actually being approved to adopt and be that family…)
2)Wendy needs every measuring cup and teaspoon she can find (ask my other half, when I cook EVERY pan and utensil gets used)
3)Wendy needs your assistance (she’ll take whatever help is offered!)
4)Wendy needs at least 5 business days advance notice for this process (that would be nice, something in my life I knew about before the day it happened)
5)Wendy needs to tell Rachel whats going on with Danny, because he’s not right in the head. (he certainly isn’t girl)

This post was inspired by reading Be*mused’s blog about her knitting memories… so thanks Be*mused for sending me down this road.
This jumper (that’s sweater to you yanks!) was knit whilst I was in my first term at Bristol Polytechnic (now the University of the West of England).
I’d bought the wonderful, hand-dyed mohair on a stall in Keswick market whilst on holiday that summer in the English Lakes with my parents.

I’m currently knitting up scarves in all shapes and sizes from yarn that has been given to me or that is left over from other projects. I’m trying to build up some stock for a sale I’m hoping to have before Christmas to raise money for my favourite charity, Breakthrough.
Here are some of the scarves I’ve done so far – if you’re interested in buying one or commissioning one in a different colour or yarn just let me know (or any other article you’ve seen on here). Read More »
“Jasmine” – a cardigan in Rowan 4ply cotton from Rowan magazine 39. I began knitting this earlier this year as I thought it would be lovely for the summer. Unfortunately I didn’t read the instructions very thoroughly before I started as I had fallen in love with it and I didn’t appreciate that the lovely lace edging which made it such a fantastic cardi was crochet ….. and I can’t crochet. So, it’s been in the bag whilst I learn to crochet. I have to get this one out as I really want to take it on my holiday in just over 2 week’s time. I have even asked a friend, who can crochet, if they would finish it for me if I can’t do it but I am determined to crack it…..
This is a little bolero jacket knit in a 4ply baby wool, it’s a lovely lilac shade which doesn’t show very well in this photo. The pattern is from Debbie Bliss Baby Style. I bought a pack of 6 x 100g balls of this on eBay really cheaply and have already knitted a baby jacket for a new baby of some friends of ours. I was knitting this for my Breakthrough sale and still have 300g with which to knit some more baby items to sell.
This little duffel jacket is another pattern from Debbie Bliss Baby Style and is the first thing I’ve knit with Rowan All Seasons Cotton but definitely won’t be the last. It’s a lovely yarn which is wonderful to knit with and really soft to wear. I have another packet of this same colour, a denim blue, ready to knit “Chrissy” from Rowan 31 for myself
